“Radical” has taken the top Audience Award.

“Acapulco” has been renewed for Season 3 at Apple, Variety has learned. The third season will consist of 10 episodes and will begin production in the spring. The series stars Eugenio Derbez and is inspired by 3Pas Studios and Lionsgate/Pantelion Films’ feature “How to Be A Latin Lover,” in which Derbez starred. 

The sixth grade students at Jose Urbina Lopez Elementary in Matamoros are among the worst performing students in Mexico. Their world is full of violence and hardship, with little opportunity. But teacher Sergio Juarez decides to try something different. Despite having no special training, he invites his class to experience a whole new method of learning—with fascinating results.

Eugenio Derbez and Ben Odell have set the comedy series Put@s Redes Sociales at Prime Video, starring Paulina Gaitán and Azul Guaita. Jorge Ulloa directs the series which explores human relationships in the era of likes.

Eugenio Derbez and Ben Odell’s 3Pas Studios (Acapulco) has signed a multi-year first-look deal with ABC Signature for English-language TV content. As part of the deal, 3Pas will develop and produce English-language projects for the studio. Reporting to Derbez and Odell, Sonia Gambaro, the VP of 3Pas’ English-language TV division, will oversee development, identify and source talent, ideas, and IP for ABC Signature across all platforms.  “Eugenio and Ben transcend culture through their diverse and inclusive storytelling, driven by their deep connection to talent and source material from Latin America,” said Jonnie Davis, president of ABC Signature. “We couldn’t be more excited to shepherd their next wave of brilliant and culture-defining English language projects at the studio.”

The colorful '80s-set comedy has all the ingredients of a Best Comedy hit. More potential fans (and awards voters) just need to know it exists. Everyone who was ever going to watch “Ted Lasso” has probably done it already. Somewhere deep in the server room at Apple HQ, there’s probably some algorithm for wringing some extra subset of subscribers out of the phenomenon that “Ted Lasso” has been for audiences and awards voters. It’s the kind of effort that makes you wonder what Apple TV+ would do if they had a show ready to duplicate that kind of success.

Apple TV+ today released the trailer for the second season of its hit bilingual comedy “Acapulco.” The Spanish and English-language series, which currently holds a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, stars an acclaimed, international cast led by SAG Award winner Eugenio Derbez. “Acapulco” returns for its ten-episode second season Friday, October 21, 2022 on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday through December 16, 2022.

The project will chronicle the making of a Spanish-language version of the classic horror film. 3Pas co-founder Eugenio Derbez will star in and executive produce a comedy with the working titleThey Came at Night, which is in development at TelevisaUnivision’s streaming platform Vix+. The project is a workplace show about the cast and crew who made a Spanish-language version ofDraculain 1930 — filming at night and using the same sets and costumes as Tod Browning’s English-language version.

Derbez is on a hot streak following the announcement of multiple deals:a first-look dealwith TelevisaUnivision’s streamer Vix, a development dealwith Encantosfor kids content, and a re-up ofa first-look film dealat Lionsgate, to name a few.

Lionsgatehas renewed its first-look film deal with3Pas Studios, the production company run by producer Ben Odell and bilingual starEugenio Derbez, Deadline has learned. The deal continues the longstanding relationship between the companies, which resulted in the breakout box office success of 2018’sOverboard($91.2 million at the global box office). The last three Derbez movies — including the blockbusterInstructions Not Included, released by Lionsgate’s Pantelion Films — made more than $250M off a $35M production cost before P&A.

Eugenio Derbez and 3Pas Studios—run by Derbez and his producing partner Ben Odell— inked a first-look deal with Univision to create original scripted and unscripted Spanish-language projects for Univision’s global streaming SVOD content slate set to launch in 2022.
